What’s There To Do At Winterfest
A lot of people have asked me over the years, why should I attend the Olds Outdoor Club ‘Winterfest’ outing. I can think of many good reasons, but let’s start with the top three or four.
First, during this time of year, it’s hard to find things to do unless you ski, snowmobile or ice fish. H’mm, all of the things the club promotes, only we promote it for the whole family as well. We have a weekend long ice fishing tournament; snowmobile safari’s both for the adults and family; a Saturday ice fishing tournament for the kids; a Poker Run; great cross-country skiing around the Houghton Lake area or you can venture to Hartwick Pines only a short drive away; and for those of you who want to stay inside, great restaurants, shopping and Friday and Saturday night Bingo. All of these events come with great prizes to give away at no cost to you.
Secondly, the camaraderie. Being able to associate with many of your fellow workers with your families can be priceless. Most of us who have been attending this event for years, have made some great friends, lasting relationships and lots of memories. Especially with your children.
Third, the prizes! We’ve prided ourselves for years on giving away everything from gas ice augers, shanties, fish finders, rods & reels, etc. In fact we normally give away $10,000 or more in prizes every year. But this year, promises to be even better.
Why become an Outdoor Club member you may ask. That’s easy! Our year long hunting and fishing contest winners quite often pays for the $10/year membership all by itself. That doesn’t include the bicycles we give away in June to four lucky members families; the availability to camp at a different campground May through October with the club’s camping unit, or any number of the other activities the club holds throughout the year. Remember the prizes I talked about earlier, the better prizes are always reserved for club members. By winning any one of those great prizes, could easily pay for your membership for several years, and you still get to enjoy all of the things your normally would do anyway.
Getting outdoors in this great state of Michigan with your family, is truly an experience that comes with many lasting memories. The Olds Outdoor Club just provides the opportunity for you.
